Need some help here with firing orders

ok, I have the firing orders for a non h/o and h/o 5.0 engine, but thats not the problem. What I need to know is what is the #1 cylinder. I was sure it was the front one on the drivers side, but chiltons disagrees with me. Let me know what you guys think.

Passenger side, first sparkplug.

HO & 351W 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
Non HO 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

Just a piece of useless info in a ford forum, dodges are even on one side, odd on the other. That will drive you crazy if you dont know it.

One easy way is to find the "1" on your distributor cap, and just follow your plug wire. But I guess that's useless if your changing wires. But yea, front passenger side is #1.
