After some research it looks like I need to order some Daniel Carpenter weatherstrip and ditch the old LMR ones I bought a long time ago. Is Blue Oval Industries still the go to for them?
Mine was a TX car it's whole life (at least as per registration info) and has rust issues on door mount points and a floor board I had to replace... but it was south TX which is humid as can be year round. This surely wasn't a Texas car it's entire life. That a-pillar rot is BAD.
When I purchased the car a little over 20 years ago the owner had relocated from Washington and it was completely rust free. I live in South Texas near the coast so the salt water and humidity is bad for rust. This surely wasn't a Texas car it's entire life. That a-pillar rot is BAD.
LMR sent me out another set quickly, great customer service. The other set they sent are exactly like the ones pictured above. So not sure what is going on with them. They are sealed though, in the pics it looks like the areas that are separated would allow water to easily get inside the lights. I plan on stopping by the body shop today and will compare them to my old lights. Emailed LMR about them and waiting on their response.Sucks about the lights. Some people advise putting some silicone in the edges if the car is going to see a lot of rain/water. I’m pretty sure everyone is selling lights from the same manufacturer.
I think NPD sells a pretty big line if Daniel Carpenter stuff as well.
Thanks, I do know that $5K is a good deal if they can do it for that price and the only reason I opted to take it to them this early was due to the deal I was getting. If they would have told me $6K or more then I would have waited longer until I saved that amount. They did do my buddies car for $4K which included everything mine is in need of except for the rust repair. Car came our pretty good too. I guess will have to see what they say today.I sympathise with the shop manager but I also understand your side, even being 'out of the game' for many decades I knew 5k was not an accurate estamate for the work you need done. Go pickup your car and reevaluate your options.

that's doing the job half way,Said something how they’re going to have to sand, prime, sand again then paint.
I'll say it again, take the car home, if you let them do this for that money you will regret it later.said I should probably get a rear bumper due to mine having lots of spider cracks and the sagging of it.
