rear qtr window fell out (convertible)

The rear qtr window on our 2001 convertible fell out of it's track yesterday. It's now lying down inside the panel, next to the scissor arm which is still moving freely up and down.

If anyone can provide directions or any form of assistance with how I should fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect it begins with removing back seat and rear interior quarter panel.

I'm just curious about what holds that window in it's track and what I should do to prevent this from happening again.

Again... any help would be much appreciated.

Same thing happened on my E-class Mercedes on the rear passenger window. Only way to get that out was to take off the door trim - different situation with a convertible quarter window though. You may need to take it into the dealer/shop unfortunately unless you're comfortable with removing body panels.
