Stolen: 2000 Mustang GT...

  • Sponsors (?)

Since it was at your house, Home Owners Insuance might cover it, if your auto insurance won't.

Lets hope Overhaulin' does have it, cause I have always wanted to see what they would do to a new-er stang.

The fact that it was taken while running, it sounds like a kid thing to do, and they probably just took it for a joy ride. If thats the case, then lets hope they don't wreck it.

Best of luck on finding the little F***ER that did it. Screw giving him to the cops, just bring him to the next stang meet... 8^)

That really sucks man. This type of stuff was actually in our news here in cali. People will check out neighborhoods and see people who start their cars in the morning and then go back inside. They will act like joggers in there morning and then ****** your car. It's been cold here in there mornings lately and I just tough it out and sit in the car while it warms up.

So no news yet? Usually they find stolen cars within 48 hours either stripped or just beat on for a joy ride. If they don't find them in the first couple days they don't find them ever. My 95 Cobra never was found.

Now this is the reason why a remote start/alarm combo is so useful. I can start my car without unlocking and having a key and if someone still breaks in once they step on the brake pedal the car will shut off.

That really sucks. I get so worried over my car I think I would probably throw up and pass out if something happened to her. It's such an empty feeling to be without her. It was hard when I was in Iraq to be away from her but man, I couldn't imagine it being stolen.

Sorry for your loss.

In 2 pages not one person has suggested that you should have a remote car starter.

There are remote car starters out there designed specifically for manual cars which I'm assuming yours was.

If the handbrake is taken off or the brake pedal is touched the car will turn off .

Dude. I'm so sorry. I'd probably cry.

Err, you know... my best advice to you at this point would probably be to hire a private investigation service. No joke, my best friend had this happen to him and he hired a service and had them try and track it down and they got it back I do think but it was costly.

You know... if I ever found that guy, I'd beat the hell out of him for you. You just don't steal someones stang.

You know though, I had a GPS tracker and a remote shutdown switch installed in mine. Both which I have never needed yet but it comforts me to have...

Really sorry to hear about your loss man. I did this once, and then realized how dangerous it was. I now have a remote start system on my car that runs the car for 12 minutes, started from a remote, and keeps the alarm armed. When you get your car back, this is something you should look into!

Hope you find it man.

no, my cell phone wasnt in the car. I would love a remote start for a 5 speed, but no one would install it for me. Do any of you guys have a 5 speed with the remote start? Is there a certain one you have to get?

I have heard nothing about my car so far. My brother called me and said there was a silver mustang in the ditch that was just invloved in an accident. So I raced out to where it was only to find out it wasnt my car... It did look very similar though

A surprising number of people get their cars stolen this way. One lady here in San Diego had her SUV stolen this way with her baby in the baby seat! The thug crossed into Mexico and abandoned the SUV with the baby. Luckily, the police found the car and the baby was fine. I NEVER warm up my car this way, in fact, if I have to go back in the house I'll turn my car off and re-lock it. I just take it easy on the cold car for the first few minutes. BTW, I've had two cars (without alarms) stolen from me the old-fashioned way so I feel your pain. From now on I use my alarms religously. I think we should hang car-thieves like horse-thieves. Good luck.

Oh man! I really feel for you...I just cant believe im reading this :nonono: . You would have to be LOW to steal someones stang...heck any car for that matter.

Freegin go buy you an assult rifle and go hunting! If you ever find the worthless scum, waste a full banana clip on him! Noone like that desirves to live :nonono: . And in reality this would be going through my mind were I in your position.....you jack my stang, you die!

Check out Clifford...a couple of friends of mine have those and they said their remote just beeps when they try to remote start it in gear. I myself have a 5 speed with a Viper 791XV. If you can get at least someone to install the alarm, and just enable the remote start, and not bypass the clutch, you'll be in good hands and you can do the rest of the work yourself. Otherwise, I suggest installing it yourself. Those friends of mine with Cliffords...they all installed them theirselves and one of them isn't even electronically inclined! Otherwise, here are a few that I found in a Google search for "manual transmission remote start system" and "remote start for manual transmission":

What if someone stole an SRT-4? Would they be worth wasting a full clip on ;)?
