Hey guys..while im doing the head gaskets and everything is off on the front of the motor can i clean the motor....the block and the sides of the heads...and if so...what should i use.....brake cleaner and a brush??? its sorta rusty looking...i figured id clean up the heads and block a little....
Brake cleaner will work, just make sure and plug off any where thet will provide a path to your oilpan. Blow out the piston bores with compressed air before you re-assemble everything. Give the heads a nice coat of paint while they're off, I prefer ford blue.
