Torque Converter Question

no, i mean any cams. You dont have to get CMS. Just heads got 3X more, and take twice the labor for the same or less power, and PI heads are fine as is. I dont think mpg will be that bad, i'll have to get back to you on that - but the stage 1's will pass smog so it cant be that bad

Which stage 1 cams would you recommend? I'm not too sure which ones are good?

PI is good, but please buy the 3-disc onverter and do it right the first time. I went with BC Auto/Dirty dog combo myself and couldnt be happier. ..oh yeah, mine is a seriously built single disc converter.

PI 3 piece is crazy good and crazy expensive. I just went with a solid 10" single.
Oh and the M3 ate it bad, but those models are used to eating it on the road - not the fastest

a few things 1- I had a PI converter, had to send it to Circle D to have it fixed cause PI uses crappy paper friction liners it didn't last long at all and yes it was a tripple disk that cost a grand and then another five hundred to fix
2-if you don't already have a trans cooler you need to do that like yesterday. number one cause of trans failures is heat GET A COOLER
3- alan builds his own converters where darrin has his made out by some unknown company who do you really want building your stuff???

Damn. This thing is going to be the most expensive piece of the build so far! I guess it's a 'You get what you pay for' thing, and I don't want to do it twice. Now for another question. I have the trans cooler mounted already, where the ac condenser used to be. Do I add it to the output of the radiator then back to the trans, or do I remove the radiator all together and just go straight from transmission to cooler, back to transmission?

Another thing, does anyone know if longtube GT headers will fit on this, and how bad does it make automatic trans removal?

I did a radiator location delete, runs cooler that way. Some send it to the rad first then to the cooler if they live in really cold areas and dont want the fluid to get too hot - but IMO the tranny only puts out fluid that needs cooling, if the fluid is freezing barely any will go out of the cooler lines. And some LT fit an auto for removal, like flowtech and i think bassani i forget really.

I've actually heard this before, but thought it was w/ the single disc. But i think you may be right - there are threads praising the PI and ones dreading it. Circle D really is great, and bc-automotive is a good place as well

Um, Here I am thinking that Darrin does use DD to build his converters...Da-- Im stupid. Instead of bashing him, call him and ask him who makes his converters, Im sure he will tell you that Alan does, thats what he told me and thats what everyone on the registry KNOWS. I would NEVER say that a company makes bad products without 1st hand knowledge and as far as PI goes, they make a quality product if its used as intended. Their single disc's could use better lining, but they are still good if used properly...I had 1 of those as well in my old gt and it worked just fine.

go ask alan, DD, if he builds anything for darrin. i talk with alan a few times a week about stuff. he built my trans for my thunderbird. we have been working on things for awhile with my build. i can say first hand what happened with my PI multi disk converter. i have first hand knowledge of PI stuff, i also have the receipt from CircleD to show what i had to have fixed in my converter.
