forgot the camera at work with the vid. Compared my old time slips from 2 years ago with 7-8 psi, and found out how much the tires killed the acceleration. this time it went [email protected] with 3.25 gearing and 28 in tall tires @14psi, no intercooler. The 7-8 psi went 7.02 @96.8 same gearing and 26 in tires and an intercooler. Next outting I'm going to switch gears and put a soleniod in the wastegate signal line for more boost at a lower RPM. .right now have 0-11psi at 3k. Would like to see that at 2500 or so, so I can get a bigger running start at the converter. Gonna shoot for 6.7's and then throw on the air to water intercooler. I'll try to get a little vid up later.

Yeah, they're 10.5 on a 10 in rim. They are a little big for what I need, but just have any luck with the smaller tire at the tracks out here. I started over on the suspension when I got these tires, but it's going 1.60-1.64 right now after 5 passes. Again, hoping the key word here, that the gears will drop the 60 a good bit.

Mario, paint would add weight. :rlaugh: We're gonna scale them today. rich thinks his car out weighs me by 500 lbs. I'll never make this one pretty. Just leave it like the day I bought it. Might assemble some of the front end, but we'll see. This is more fun.

Ah sounds good. I wish I could put 10's on mine. Well I could if I could find some light 15x8 with a 4" bs. I just don't feel comfortable running spacers on the back to get them to fit. :(

It will be interesting to hear what yours weighs. Mine full interior and me is at 2980. I gotta start thinking of creative ways to lighten it up without it looks stripped. Might do some glass bumpers and have them painted some bright silver or something. heh

Yeah, but oh so much prettier for it! :D Anyway, you're both in the the 6'es so :nice: Rich went 6.97 with the blown head gasket as I recall? Better watch him!

Yep, which he tries to say he ONLY went that fast. Next outting I'll remind him. :D
Brian, gonna try some 3.89's. 3.55's would be a good 1/4 gear with these tires. But rather do 1/8 right now. Most guys I'm gunning for (bb's) are running 1/8 gearing. Working on a tank for my A/w right now. Can't wait to see the MPH difference with 50 deg inlet temps.

Even with the car as it is, I am generally 80-100 lbs heavier than you normal grown male. :) So when they call it a stripped race car, I tell them that it weighs a lot more than when I bought it. And to gain 100lbs and then come back haha
I figure I've added probably a good 200 lbs. Subframes,cage,turbo,9in,caltracs,etc. Probably looking at another 70 with the A/W inter cooler. Just want to run 6.7's without it to make a point and on it goes.

Ya, mine weighs about the same as it did before all the mods. Sux you work to lighten it up, go faster and have to make it heavier. lol

As for the 6.7's, it never ends, I got into the 10's and now I'm thinking of what to do this winter to turn 10 O's at sea lvl (about 10.3 for our track) Not too far off, but man, its a sickness. heh I think my wife is going to kick my ass though.

Do you have a 2 step? Mine will only make about 3.5psi at 2300. It ran a 7.17 at 98 last night in 90+ degree air on pump gas and 10psi. I was thinking about buying 275/60 drag radials, but with a 3.08 gear I think a 28" tire will hurt it. I may get 50's so I won't need a gear change. I goofed up and started in 2nd one pass and still ran a 7.59. I was surprised that it only cost me 4 tenths. Gotta love that torque.

Yeah, it's set at 3k. It makes about 5-6 psi when it first bumps the limiter. The farther I put my foo in it, the more boost it makes. Haven't floored it yet on the brake. But should make it much easier to build it once the waste gate is closed and on the brake.

Why not floor it? It won't hurt the trans temp. The motor is only going 3k no matter where the throttle is. It will just drop more cylinders and should spool more.
Just experimenting so far. Only made 4 passes so far. I wan a little throttle left in it so I can flash the converter harder. But it may not like it. Who knows. Gonna go back this weekend hopefully.I've got one ice box made so far and trying to find cores for the A2W right now. Spearco wanted 1300.:notnice:

Id just floor it also. Just get some diff chips if you wanna flash harder on the converter and back down the rpm. I stall at 5k on mine, and as soon as I see the first bulb I'm on the converter. By the time I get back to the pits driving its still around 140-150 degrees trans temp, so all good. Being at more boost at the same rpm should hit your converter harder anyways. I know totally diff builds, but mine seems to like 4400 on 2step and flashes to about 5k on release.

Dunno how fast you build boost though, you might have to get on the brake a tad earlier.

That's what I'm thinking. Hit 13psi at 2500 and get a huge running start at the converter. I don't want to be right against it. I'm about 5-600 down right now. I'm hoping the gear change won't cause me to need a boost controller. I don't want to outrun the boost. I saw somewhere to make your own chips, and bending them changed the resistance. Haven't seen any lower than 3k for MSD.

dustin,
if you're running a msd 6al, you can just use a radioshack potentiometer instead of a chip. then you can dial in any rpm you want.
also, i think the 'flashing the converter' thinking doesn't apply to turbo cars. having more boost is more important than flashing the converter. you'll go faster (traction permitted) launching at 4k w/10psi than 3k w/5 psi. jmo.

nice pic btw.

Definitely agreed. But what I'm trying to say is get 13psi at 2500, instead of 13psi at 3000.
Hows the carb going ?
