Damn.. I forgot about the factory tach not working.... Thats a deal breaker for me.. I don't want an ugly ass aftermarket tach in my car, nor do I want a dead gauge on the dash....
I wonder if it's possible to drive the factory tach with some wiring skills
I'm gonna try to rig it up this weekend. I found a way to make an autometer gauge work by wiring a resistor between the power and data wire to the tach, and you have to set it to 4 cyl mode. You need to set the tach info in the AEM so it knows every 3rd tooth fires a cylinder, 24 teeth = 8 cyl. Since you obviously can't set the factory tach to 4 cyl mode, I'm wondering if it will work by settings the AEM tach info to 6 teeth, which would = 4 cyl....
I'll probably end up with one of those big dumb 5" tachs.
Always wanted to do this to my 351 Based stroker....Big question is do they make a EPDM for the 351 block?

Oh and "S U B S C R I B E D"
I'm curious how this works out... I might do some research on how the factory tach works compared to an autometer and figure out a way..
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.. But I've spent entirely too much money on my interior to throw a monster tach in it..
I could possibly do a digital 2-1/16" one instead...
