Finally weighed the car...

My 95' is 3070# with 200lbs of me in it. Still has all glass and ele. windows

Ok, so you live in FLA, Ilive in MD, I doubt I will ever see you at the track since I don't track race my car anyway..so given that... how did you lower your car # to that? Do you have fenders?:)

Let me see..If I take the factory weight 3450 add 40# for my stoker - fibre hood 25 - a/c 40 - smog 10 - fender weight 25 - air bags 25 - cats 40 - strut twr brace 15 - vert motor 12 - spare tire/jack 35# - 45# heads = 3218 rough.

That is AWESOME!!!! I love to see what guys can do with weight reduction. My goal is to find a clean little Fox body (Boxtop Fairmont), gut it, drop in a mild 351w/C4 and see if I can find a 10 second time slip. Even if I have to throw a huge shot of nitrous at it. Of course, I would upgrade the rear and stuff. Gotta stay street legal, though.

Good job on the w.r., brands95!

All things considered, that's a damn fine weight Paul.

But since we're comparing the size of our, well you know, mine weighed in at 3007 without me (3167 with me and full race gear). And that was with iron heads and AC. :D

Sorry, not trying to get off focus but WOW!! That is quite a lot of work! I had a scary enought time swapping engines and a TB. You know...when we have our cars apart like this and depending on th eexperience level, you can feel like you are on the dark side of the moon and start thinking will I ever get it running again. Hats off to you. :hail2:

Edit: I also like your placement of the fan. Gives more room in the bay. nice.

So why does it weigh what it did stock? Didn't you delete weight?

I'm not sure what a 94-95 'vert weighs stock. I do know that this car weighed 3803lbs with me, a full tank of fuel, spare/jack, and the stock iron heads. My cousin's 94Gt 5 speed coupe weighed 3350lbs with cloth interior.

Take my 3620lbs, minus my 170lbs and ~30lbs for the passenger seat and that puts my car at around 3420lbs. I have removed weight with aluminum heads (50lbs), alum. DS(10lbs), tubular K member/A arms/coil overs (68lbs), dog bone weight (~8lbs), 99-up PBR calipers (5lbs total for both sides), fiberglass hood(~5-10lbs). TOTAL: 151lbs MAX reduction

I added the following though: dart block with heavier forged internals (guessing ~75-85lbs), hooker 4 pt car bar (guessing 40lbs), TKO transmission (guessing 30lbs heavier than a T5), global west full length subframe connectors and LCA's (guessing 30+lbs). TOTAL: 185lbs MAX addition

So in the end it doesn't look like I've lost anything. I may be forgetting something, but I can't think of anything right now. I also lost ~40lbs since last year since I ditched the xenon body kit. Stangfreak had the xenon kit on his car and after removing it he posted that it weighed around 40lbs if memory serves me right.

Baglock1- thanks man! Honestly its lighter than I thought it was. I'm going to autocross the car this sunday if the weather is nice and the lighter the weight the better. I'm going to try and relocate the battery to the trunk as well before I race it.

I am going to get mine weighed too because this is a very interesting topic to me. All this time I have been thinking that my car is lower than that in weight but a scale doesn't lie and it is what it is. Maybe ford weighed them with no gas or accessories, lol. I'll report back.

Let us know what you find out. I weighed mine as a local place that deals in rare metals for semiconducters and other high end electronics so I know its extremely accurate. If you find a local scale make sure its calibrated frequently so that you get the most accurate results that you can. I'm going to gut my car and see how light I can get it very soon.

TKO's are heavy...

You can do some simple stuff still to drop weight.

spare and jack. along with truck carpet or at least the underside insulation.

Do you still have the vert weight in the fender?

rear seat delete take off the metal frame too...didnt see it on your list.

was this with the Bogarts? that is some good weight there too if not.

I removed the A/C on mine due to a busted condensor (will put it back on sometime down the road)...its some heavy stuff. I bet its really close to having alum. heads over iron.

manual rack.

I am going to add my numbers to this thread. BTW Paul, I think you forgot your welded wheels are lighter.

Here's a list of what I pulled (I am going from pauls thread on some of these weights bc he's prolly accurate):

1. the X cross brace 20#
2. vert top motor and hardware 15#
3. A/C 40#+
4. 4 cat h-pipe (that was a good 40#)
5. alum heads and intake 50#
6. Fiberglass hood 15#
7. Fender weight 25#
8. Dogbone 7.5#
9. Air bags 25#
10. Alum DS 10#
----------------------------------------------
240# so...
3750#-240# = 3510#

Added weight now:
+ 351 stroker 100#?
+ subframes 20#?
+ beefier swaybar 10#?
xtra fluids for bigger eng 10#?
+ cobra front bumper and brakes.. #?
I bet the gforce is heavier too...(any beefed trans is) #?
+ after market bullets? (maybe 4-5# each) so..20#
+ I forgot, I have leather, cruise, power everything #?
+ Oh, yeah.. Torque box welds prolly 15#
-----------
3700#

Let me add that a tracker would definitely have a tubular k-member s osubtract pauls figure roughly 70#
Subtract tire and jack rougly 35#
Subtract front and rear seats 70#
Add rollbar 40#
after market dr seat maybe..30#
Welded wheels not 17"'s?..60#?
---------
Could be 3395# or less..you get the idea..

Where is the "fender weight"?
What is it for?
Does it increase unibody strength, or is removing it okay for a street car?
If I just wanted to lose 25# in a daily driver, is this good weight to pull?
Or should it stay for day to day driving?

TIA
Dave

Also, FWIW, you can delete the massive amount of impact absorbtion materials that
make up the functional bumpers, front and rear, underneath the bumper covers.

Mine is street. The fender weight is on the passenger side fenderwell in front. It is literally labeled "25 pounds". I removed it after subframes and went back and forth..I cannot tell the difference anymore as long as I kept the strut tower brace on.

What absorption materials? How much does that weigh? I dunno.
