Just wondering this asshat at work has one and leaves me in the twisties every night on the way home insisting its bad azz.. Im going to tell him to run me from a dead stop on a straight stretch.. Wondered how fast they are? he claims 14 second cars i call bs i think they just handle better than a GT (doesent take much) corners he can zip around im going sideways at less speed hehe. My guess is in a drag race i would rape a celica gt its a non turbo.. and not a GTS

I think you should be able to take him off a dig, I have no experience with these Toyotas though, so I am just speaking out of my a$$.

Seeing how the 2000 GT model Celica has 140hp and 125ft lbs. of torque, you should most likely beat him.

I know for a fact my completely stock 98 GT with 142k on the ticker completely destroys my friends 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5( rated @ 175hp stock) with some bolt ons( CAI, header, catless exhaust).

I say dust him and see if he still talks smack, then kick his a$$.

Oh.... and of course :Track:

Well a Celica cant run 14's unless its highly modified. The other thing is why our cars are not the best handling cars you can toss them through corners if you know how to drive it well. I have never had ANY car pull away from me in Maui racing on the twisties in my Fox. I also always had the fastest times in my class racing SCCA Solo events in an almost stock 89 GT, shocks and catback was all it had. A Celica is an alright handling car and is capeabale of a couple tenths of a g improvement over the Aero cars but thats not enough because the Mustang has a higher exit speed and can still hold.
Dont take this as an insuly but you need to learn the car. Also springs/shocks/struts and subframes make a huge difference in these cars. My 96 Cobra can now do 1.01 g's constant lateral load now (with prof. equipment) which is a huge improvement over the stock .90 it used to do. And fo proof of my SCCA events:
You can also go to mauiscca.com or .org and look at the December 06, that was the last one I ran. To see these photos and times online. And yes thats my super fatt ass driving :nice:

Well my back tires are not so great these days plus they are cheapy 17's the whole set was new when i bought the car back around thanksgiving and with 15k all 4 tires look wore out?? for some reason the back driver tire has worn the worst!

Thats cause you are always lighting em and your trac-loc is shot :rlaugh: Our cars dont do all that well on tires anyway. Poor steering geometry and a light tail that has alot of power going through it. If his car is stock and you can drive it you will smoke him off the line, but seriously you can dust him in the twisties too. Take my advice and work on your suspension. Not only will the car handle way better but the ride gets better and the car feels new cause the chasis stops flexing like a narcicistic body builder

Street racing is bad, mmmmk....

But, if you do run him you will wax him and have time to take a leak before the race is over.

As far as cornering, dont do anything to your car... just wait untill he out-asshats him self one night and flies into a ditch and or tree. Then you oficially have the better handling car...:nice:

These kind of conversations are what you expect from a 16year old in high school.

As BurningRubber said, if he's pushing it hard thru the twisties every night, he'll end up offroading or worse. It only takes one oil spot, a few drops or rain or a handful of sand and you are in for a ride...

If I were you, I'd invite him to an auto-X and/or a night at the drag strip. You don't need to race him directly for him to realize how slow his car is. Anyone who likes cars and going fast will have a ball at either of these events, win or not. :nice: If you can drive halfway descently, you can beat him at both.

Back in 2006 at the 1/4 mile track I go to, I raced a Celica GT-S( Step up and quicker than the GT model ) with my 05 Mustang GT. The GT-S was more than 2.2 seconds slower and 12 MPH slower than my Mustang.

I just dont want to talk a bunch of smack to this ricer and him spank me.. I figured they were slow but he does know how to drive it asshat or not and it does handle quite well.. As fir lighting the tires up i very very rairly spin them.. most the time its when i get a little froggy and nail 1st from a rolll.. My t-bird on the other hand i light em up all the time and have very little almost no tire wear from it... maybe its lighter in the azz i dunno.. The mustang is pretty much stock cai pi intake catback.. its my dd if i really wanted to beat a ricer id use my other car but im tired of people talking crap because its a mustang.. I

dude there is no way you will lose ill bet you could go from first to 3rd and still win. the GT celicas are slow. the GTS could give you a run if you cant drive worth crap and they are pretty good at driving. but you are looking at a 16 second car for the celica GT. the GTs is capable of low 15s.

but yea man dont even waste your gas dont let people get to you like this.

Laser, thats one foxy fox, lol, but for some reason, the first thing i noticed, was the rainbow on ur front licence plate....hahaha. its all good. nice car.

and as far as the celicas, from what i know, those cars are slow, so if u can beat it...beat it, if you have any doubt in your mind you cant....lol, then dont.

Thanks, and it was an AOD :rlaugh:
I miss it but the door jambs were rusted out. When it would rain the car would shut down cause the big rust hole above the computer :(
Right before I moved a kid t-boned it. Only hurt the fender and the wheel was scratched but they totaled it and gave me $4800 and let me keep the car with a clear title. I then sold the car for $2700

Stock they are a low to mid 15 second vehicles with a good driver.
Be careful though the aftermarket is big for the Celica and he could
possibly have a big turbocharger under the hood. :)
With some bolton's and the driver mod he could be in the 14's easy.
The Toyota Celica GT is one nice vehicle to have though.
