I have 2 235/45/17 and think the sidewall is to short will 245/45/17 have a larger sidewall?

What is the widest tire I can run on a 8.5 inch rim?

I have the C&L with a pretator and the book gives you the OBD II option but my tuner does not display it. Any other way to turn them off?
