4.6 2V stock HP/torque specs vs oldler 5.0?

Just wondering what the real world HP/torque figures are for the 2 motors?

looking to compare the 2 motors at the crank, where each makes it's HP and torque.

crank hp/tq for the mod motor is 260/302 i believe peak hp is acheived around 5250 rpms and tq is around 4000 rpms. wheel hp is another thing though.

5.0,s were rated at 225 horse/300 tq.

99-04 GT's rated at 265 horse/302 torque.

the stock 5.0 was pretty dead at 5100rpms. it did have a low end advantage. PI heads outflow E7 heads. gear the 4.6 for its powerband and the low end advantage is nullified.

The 4.6 makes it's power higher up in RPM range, thats why so many people say it "lacks down low".

Simple remedy = gears! Steeper gears gets the 4.6 into it power range almost immediately, hence why it is such a popular mod.

I had a few foxbodies, and yes the 5.0's have more low end grunt. Once you add some 4.10's into the mix that changes everything .

It's funny how many people when comparing the two mentions the 5.0L making more initial low-end grunt, but neglects to recognize the fact that they're severely out powered by the PI 4.6L's everywhere else in the powerband.

a good running bolt on and cammed 99-04 will almost everytime beat a 85-95 gt, with h/c/i tune, gears..

and in the upper rpms, they will pull away hard.

no, they will not even be close. even iron gt40 heads flow 215 cfm vs 169-177 for PI's. fully ported E7's flow about the same as a stock PI.

you need to define H/C/I a little. canfield heads, track heat intake, massive cam will ruin all PI headed 4.6's.
