Anyone make a more durable parking brake handle?

I have gone through 3-4 NPD plastic handles in the 7 or 8 years I've had this car, and its getting tiresome replacing them every time I snap a handle off. Does anyone make a stronger handle? If not, does anyone have a fairly easy method for making one?

The trick is to use two fingers, one on either side of the shaft, like an arrow. I've had the same Taiwanese handle in my car for about 25 years.

Yeah, i used to pull more on the shaft than the actual handle. Now customers come in with these handle and I crank on them

In my experience, there has been improvement in the last few years. For example, repro doors used to be useless. Now, with a little tweaking, they are quite useable.

However, part of me wants to laugh my ass off as you describe pulling on the shaft with two fingers.....

One thing that I did was to drill and tap the parking brake shaft. Now when I break another parking brake handle all I have to do is unscrew a screw, pull it off, install the new handle and replace the screw.

I agree about the repro brake handles being kinda crappy. I have broken about 4 of them too. I want to know why they don't make them like the original with metal inside.
