best times with G tech on street tires...

ok guys, I finally got my car all tuned up and took it out with the G tech. I meant to write down my times but the best I could get was a 14.?? at 101 mph in the 1/4. I have Kuhmo 711 tires. Do you think I could get alot better traction on the track?? I just couldnt get any better time than that. Any recommendations on how to get better hook on the street with these tires? Is this a crappy time with my combo?? I have 3:27 gears in the car at the moment, hoping a set of 3:55 will make it better..........
