Clutch quadrant Pawl Removal

I'm having trouble getting the pawl out; am I supposed to release the spring first somehow? Also, it just doesn't look like there's any room to slide that sucker off . . . and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that my car was converted to a t5 from an auto . . . Anyone with a AOD to T5 swap experience this??

Mine didn't have any room to slide off the shaft, i used my dremel and cut it off.

I didnt have to cut mine off. I only know this because I still have it in my toolbox in one piece. Sorry I dont remember how I got it out.
