Fox Door Lock Problems

Anyone have this door lock problem? When I hit unlock on drivers side it unlocks drivers side and locks passenger side. If I hit lock on drivers side it locks driver side and unlocks passenger. Vice versa if I hit unlock on passenger it unlocks passenger and locks driver???

This didn't start just all of a sudden, have you had one or both of the door panels off or been in the drivers kick panel?

I just bought the car so I have no idea what the previous owner did.

Start by pulling the drivers door panel off and see if some wires have deen spliced

I did that and all wires are connected through harness correctly not spliced

I don't think you can reverse the switch connections
Match the wires from switch to the passenger door,
Have the doors been changed?

I'll dig into in the morning I'm finding other electrical things aren't right either. When I turn on the headlight switch it pulls power from the radio.

Something is switched somewhere.

So if I'm reading it right , both switches work correctly for the door they are on but are reversed for the other door?

If so, that's where I would start, by checking the wires that connect the two

Yes you are correct each one works correctly on each door

Is it possible somebody replaced a door lock actuator with a wrong part number? For instance, some cars use negative ground system while others use positive ground system. Maybe somehow the wrong actuator got installed? This could make the function of the actuator be the opposite of intended.

Swap the connection of the wires. Cut the wires near the actuator, strip and re-splice in the opposite position. Problem solved. Avoid cutting the harness in the door. But who cares if you cut a harness plug of a part that can easily be replaced in the future?

Wait I think I could be wrong on my recommendation to swap wires at actuator. I read your first post again. Based on what you said there, changing wires at actuator wouldn't fix it.

It'll fix it for one side but not both.

Sounds like at some point the PO pulled one of the door lock plugs apart and repinned it incorrectly.

You'll need to troubleshoot this with wiring diagrams
