New Purchase, why the car sits!

90lxcoupe he clearly doesn't know much about economics so it's best to just let him hide his money under the matress and ignore him. Also I simply cannot believe this post went this way, from a guy posting pics about his house and how happy he was about it to this bull. Never mind the economy what the hell is wrong with people today :nonono:.

Brian make sure you post up some interior pics, we want to see the inside also :nice:

This is my last post. This was not ment to disrupt his thread.

You are looking at it in the wrong way. The end all be all is that people are spending more money then they have. Its common sense. People on here said it themselves. Everybody has a house or car loan. And people wonder why the dollar is worth nothing. Because any fool can take out a loan for a car or house. Can you imagine if there wasn't a loan to be had? The dollar would be actually worth something. It would drop prices on everything. Prices on goods and services would be more realistic. Just stop and think about it. The less loans the better. The dollars value would rise and prices would drop. All those people who lived off borrowed money would have nothing, as they should. Loans are a BAD thing.

Why are you taking a generalized problem and taking it all out on Brian? Yes, what you say is true, but not everyone is buying $300K houses on $30K salaray. There are responsible people out there who do actually pay their bills you know.

I've met Brian in person. I don't doubt for a second he didn't think about this long and hard before pulling the trigger. He's not one of "those" people who messed the entire system up. It's unfair to label him as such.

You are new to SN, but please don't try to stereotype people's actions based on the world at large. Let's not get that deep. Nobody here truely knows anybody, so posts about questioning one's actions should not really be a part of the discussion. We do get our fair share of "Should i take out a $15K loan to mod my Mustang" or see photos of a nice looking Mustang parked in front of a house that needs serious upkeep. Yes, there are plenty of people with screwed up priorities. We don;t know how people come by their money, but we can't make assumptions based on tiny snippets of their life we get to see. Here, we are only a screenname and share our love for Mustangs.

Please, stay a while, lets talk Mustangs....but leave the political stuff to the outside world. We come here to get away from that

right now im in the process of buying/leasing an industrial warehouse and converting the office and break room space into the living area and the shop/warehouse part of it into a workshop for my cars/bike/trucks/jetski's/guns and whatever else needs to be worked on or built, i spend more time in my garage and shop than actually in my home, so its always been a dream to live in a secluded industial complex and sleeping in the same build as my toys, and that way i wont irritate people by being loud when i do use my toys, plus for the price of a home/apartment rent i get 5 times the space apartments here for 1000sqf are like 2k a month, for that i can get a 5000sqf shop space waaaay away from neighbors and people

That's cool bro. Toys on the first floor, living quarters upstairs to look down at the toys! haha 5000sq feet is tons and tons of room.

My girl's brother is doing that. He bought a building in Detroit and gutted it. He is doing the same thing. Open first floor, loft 2nd floor, something else on the 3rd. It's all open and stuff. It's not done and I don't know if he's finishing it because he bought another house in Detroit, right by the ballpark, casino's and a couple other hot spots. That needs gutting to, so he's got his hands FULL...:D

Everyone takes out loans... I own a 27' boat, an F250 and a Mustang outright, no payments. My GF owns her Mercedes outright... Not sure if you assume we cannot afford the loan, but if thats the case... jump to conclusions much?

BTW if the mortgage goes through the way it is now, they are checking our ability to pay the mortgage... seperately. Meaning I have to qualify for the full amount, and the GF does as well... Yikes! LOL

27' boat, F250 and Mustang paid=:nice: Good job man, not many people can say that. :nice::nice:

Thanks,

Yes I actually have had my priorities backwards... I modded the car, bought the boat, the truck, had an Audi (only car I ever had a loan on) and a few other cars while still living at home. Now I realize I could be putting most of my money in better places. We started renting to get closer to work, and decided to get into something to build equity, not toss money out. Renting is fine, but owning something is much much better. We could have bought a starter home, and in years sold it and bought up, but we found this one way below what it could/should be worth, it fit the budget, and is something we can grow into the for the next 30 years! Whether we have a dog, kids, want to rent out the apartment, we can more or less do it all.

As far as finances go, and who messed up the economy, trust me when I say they don't hand out mortgages like halloween candy nowadays. They check everything out and make sure your capable to pay it off. If in 6 months, a year, 5 years etc... I can't pay the mortgage, then an "I told you so" is in order, but to tell me about it before I even have the house... Kind of jumping the gun?

Either way, I got enough going on in life to not worry about an internet thing. I guess this is what growing up is? Starting at 7 AM and not quitting with the stress and work till 11 PM. Haha

Can we change Justamustangguys name to Justatool? Guy buys a house and that guys gotta come in and complain. Sure you have some big plans with that place, we have big plans for ours but ran out of $$ prob until tax time. My car sits too 99.9% of the time too. Don't forget to take it out every once in awhile, they have feelings you know. :nice:

Yeah we got upgrade plans for it... paint is a must, wall paper removal, flooring throughout, counters, etc... Our plans will be over time, other than paint. everything else will be budgeted in when funds are available. Don't want to eat away at the "rainy day" funds for improvements.

Will be nice to have a lawn to care for though. :D

Yea no kidding, I like doing little odds and ends in the yard too. Gotta pick a winter fertilizer soon.

Yeah, I'm grabbing a snow blower, but I am trying to con my father into plowing it for me. He thinks it would be a hassle to try and plow it, so we will see!

I plan to go to town on the yard, although it doesn't need it.

Where did you buy a place? PM me if you don't want some of the people here knowing! :D

well its only 1 story not 2, but does have like a 20' cieling so above my living area i'll find something to put up their, might just use it for new parts storage :D

Considering you took out a big loan to buy this house, its not that impressing to be 24 and own a house. Bc its not like you paid for it yet. Your just living off borrowed money. So pretty much if your 18 or 60 you could have this house. What IS impressive, is if you can buy the house with cash money that you have saved up. I personally wouldn't gloat about taking out a 100k plus loan. Thats just me. But hey, half the problem with this country right now is people borrowing to much money and they can't pay it off. What makes it worse is if they lose their job. Best of luck! Not to be a dick. But anybody who is old enough to understand will agree with me.

So to answer your question... Not bad for 24 years old? Getting yourself in huge debt, i'd say its bad. But to each is his own. Best of luck

:stupid:bet you don't have a couple hundred grand lying around? It is not how much $$$ someone has in their account it is how they manage it. I didn't buy my house straight cash but I pay my mortgage on time. So you have to get a loan. Big deal. At least he now has a house. Congrats on the bad ass looking house and don't worry about this idiot. He's one of those guys that thinks his **** don't stink

Thanks Josh, replied! Nice place!!

Once again I have enough going on in my life that an internet debate is the least of my worries. If someone thinks what I did is wrong, bad or indifferent... then so be it!

Everyday though is one step closer to being in the house.

Its well worth the investment to own rather than rent. :nice:

We have tons of upgrade plans for our place too. I'm sure it will take years to complete them all because like you guys - we don't want to exhaust all of our funds. We are going to be in our house for a long time just like you guys, it definitely wasn't a starter home for us so there is no rush to complete things!

Having you're own lawn to mow and stuff is awesome! I did it all summer and loved every min of it! I have tons of "lawn" plans so whenever you want, shoot me an e-mail and we can trade ideas/experiences :nice::nice:

The house was originally listed for north of that $350K... We paid significantly less than that for it. In CT home prices are far from cheap and taxes are a killer.

My position is called Architectural Engineer, but it basically entails engineering, designing, construction managament and administration. I take a project scope from a "customer", design the project within all codes and restrictions, then see it through bid, to construction and final punch out. It's not my dream job, but for the time being it is great experience, I work with great people, and the pay is nice.

My GF is a research assistant at Yale University (if anyone has followed the Yale girl who was murdered, my GF used to park in that buildings garage). She does clinical research and testing for the MDs who have grants. She was doing testing for type 1 diabetes, but I'm not sure exactly what her new jobs ultimate goal is.

Both of us will be going to Masters Programs (unless she gets into Med school) and hopefully getting our degrees and do exactly what we want to do.

Boy did I turn this into a soap opera, but I figure it might help people understand why the two of us decided to purchase a house verse rent for the next few years!

Justin, I will be all over sharing lawn ideas. I have a LOT of friends in the lawn care business, and other aspects of home improvements. My father was a contractor for 15+ years and designed and built their 3000 SF house from the ground up, within my Mustang club there are a bunch of landscape gurus, lighting guys, finishing guys etc... I'm sure I will be picking all their brains to get what I want done!
