Base 2010 GT is 27,995
2010 Premium GT is 30,995

to price a 2011 GT...which LOOKS like a 2010...in the upper 30s is foolish, and will never happen. I imagine the NEW price for a "Base 2011 GT" in the $28995-30995 range and a "Premium 2011 GT" in the $31995-32995.

You have to remember that we aren't paying for horsepower on a Year to Year basis...only on a model to model basis within a certain year. Not sure if that makes since. Sure we are going to pay for the R&D but not enough to shift prices up by $10k in one year...The base 1998 GT was around $22k I think...it took 12 model years for the base GT to get up to the current $27,995...so annually they increase the price about $450-550 annually. To all the sudden increase that by literally 1500% would do nothing but alienate the faithful. If there was a year for Ford to really inflate the price it would have been 2005. The GT is not a super car. Ford likes to brag about the affordability of the GT500, they arent going to position the GT within $5000 of the GT500.

I went by 3 ford dealerships in Houston in the last 3 weeks. The cheapest 2010 GT was around 31,000.They went up to 37k. No dealer markup. Average price was around 34-35k.

I am just using the numbers on Fords site...obviously those are without Destination charges and any options...I was just going BASE vs. BASE...PREMIUM vs. PREMIUM...

Really I am just hoping for a VERY low $30k price tag as a starting point. I probably wont be able to afford one, but in 3 years I could see myself buying one with 25-30k miles on it!

I really doubted Ford was going to switch to the 5.0 so its a huge surprise. All of the details finally coming out now has it looking like a nice switch over, however I won't be rolling in a 5.0 any time soon due to funds :( haha

i looked at a gt500 last week. my problem is the interior kills my legs. im 6'5".

another problem i have with the gt500 is the weight. 4000lbs is just too heavy for me. power to weight matters. you really have to make a bunch more power than the next guy to beat him. the there's this.....

a 4000lb car with exactly the same power to weight of a 3000lb car will have a hell of a time getting off the line with traction. you are talking slicks to put the power down. our club has gt500's, and with 285 DR's they simply cannot put it down stock motored. of course its easy to really up the power with a gt500 to 800rwhp.

800rwhp/4000lbs = 600rwhp/3000lbs. the amount of traction it takes to start a 4000lb car from zero to 20mph is tremendous. not so with a 3000lb car.

a stock 500rwhp 2010 gt500 is the same as 375rwhp 3000lb car. 03-04 cobra is a better car....a few bolt-ons and teh cobra rules. i know it weighs more than 3000lbs.

it seems a bit narrow minded....so you don't like roush or saleen?
Honestly I only like the Saleen bumper, not so much on the Roush:shrug:

il take the factory bumper. IMO anything that doesnt come on a mustang is kind of stupid looking

i just like to keep my stuff somewhat factory looking and not overdone
Exactly. Thats what makes the car Iconic. Not like the rice mobiles with thier trashy, childish "body kits"

I won't even bother. No, I am not joking.

Ehh, still looks gauty
i hope you are joking. that looks like a ricer or a wanna be lambo with that bumper. it doesnt go with the car at all!!
Agreed 100%

I can't wait to see these things out on the streets. Damn I would love to get one of these in GB.
