Bought my stepson an 89 GT 'vert from a guy that was really, really hurting for money. On the title it says Cobra/GT. Is this normal for a 89 GT title. I didn't think a Cobra was made untill 1993.
The only thing that I can think of is if the car is from Canada or is still in Canada, you don't have a location, then the GTs were called Cobras in the Great White North.
just about all gt's do that. look at carfax, it will say that. I bought mine in orlando, florida car all its life, carfax says cobra/gt. Dude was right, canada, messing up something else.

Thats wierd. My 93 has been an FL car it whole life and I bought it in Ft. Lauderdale and my title just has it listed as a 1993 Ford Mustang. No GT/cobra.
It depends on the state mostly. GT's and Cobra's are pretty much the same as far as DMV is concerned, just depends on how specific the particular state is. Some 4 eyed GT's will come up as LX/GT as will some 5.0 LX's, and some GT's come up as GT/Cobra. Just depends on where you are I would guess.
Yeah Its a GT !! My '92 title list gt/cobra but as we all know it not a cobra unless it is a Canadian car or '93 . When I first bought mine I thought maybe it was a Cobra .... but IT WASNT !!
