Wouldn't Ya Know It, High School '89 Gt Look Alike Nearby

Yours might be paid for, but it hasnt hit your driveway either!

All sh*t talking aside, I am pretty excited. I was able to score about $800 off parts from my 2011 today, so that will be nice to put aside for when I do actually possess the car and want to start cleaning up the few things the interior needs. I am going to start there.
Yeah, crap! Interior stuff added up quick for me.

Not yet, give me about a week. The car will be paid for and sitting in their climate controlled "classic car showroom" until my Explorer is gone and I laterally move that money into new flooring for my house. I supposedly have someone coming to check out my Explorer on Friday evening. That new flooring translates into me having what I want, and my wife having one less thing to b*tch about me spending money on that isnt new flooring.
Ah yes, the multi-step accounting process. All car guys utilize this to justify future purchases.

"I have X to spend, A costs x, B&C cost x, leaving x.... wife gets half, leaving me with exactly.... $1.15 to spend. F**K.

1 minute passes...

"Wait, wait, wait..." *re-figures numbers* ... F**K.

You don't really NEED something until you've laid out your finances in excel for the next 6 months to justify the purchase.

And Mr. Paperclip even pops in to say "dude that's not how math works".

And then you buy it anyways and agree that it's your future selfs problem, not yours.

It's a fine line between irrational, and just plain stupid behavior. I haven't done anything stupid since the red car almost killed us off financially. It took a serious slap in the face (a.k.a having to sell the car) to come to terms with how much the stupid side of your brain wins over the rational side when passion/lust/desire kick in.

And I'm talkin about a car here.

Fortunately this time the Monster was built for cash.....extra cash. The kind that comes from having a steady source of income. The money that I had extra had no purpose for other than to fund a set of Racetec pistons one week,...then a set of Crower rockers the next,..then a roller cam from Australia....... In hindsight,.........I was just giving it something to do....keepin it off the streets,...keeping it on the straight and narrow.

Honestly. I wouldn't swear trying to keep it as oem as possible trying to keep some sense of value in the car. This isn't some 10000 mile survivor car. Mod it the way that suits you, and chances are if you put some restoration effort into it along with clean tasteful mods, it's going to have the same value as if you kept it stock.

I don't see rappers, movie stars and NFL players picking up fox body mustangs anytime soon, so this is a niche market. I'd venture to say most enthusiasts wouldn't overlook a tastefully modded car at all

Yeah, that is kind of the rationalization I have come to. If it were a 10k mile car, a) I wouldnt be buying it because they are commanding $15k+, b) I would leave it stock. But since its a pretty well used one, I will most likely not be able to hold off the mod bug for long. Again though, just going to start with getting the interior back to as good as it can be, get it driving right, and then take the aftermarket stuff slow. She's old now, cant really go throwing her around on the dance floor like I used to.

This is the second funniest comment I've read all day. It's only second because the funniest I read still has me laughing but is too low brow to share here.

Thank you

Huh,....you guys need to spend some time over at F.E.P. They think God drives a Fox Mustang over there...

Lol that's funny.

Every time I mention to someone I have an old mustang in my garage, their eyes get wide and ask me if its a 65? Or some year back then.

Then I show them the fox and they are like "what the hell is that? An escort?"

lol guys at work ask me what I'm working on a lot. I always say "just an old mustang". Of course they always ask what year and the look of disappointment when I say 1991 always hurts haha

Well the better half found out about my purchase tonight, and lets just say it didnt go over well. I am good about my finances, and after explaining what I have already done and what is left to do (get the Explorer sold), we have at least worked our way out of divorce talks, lol. Buuuut, that is as far as we have made it. Update to come, when I can post a pic of the car at my house. :)

I pick the car up Friday. That didnt stop me from completing my first LMR purchase though. May as well have things arriving promptly. On order is interior kick plates, new gauge cluster glass, driver's door lock switch, and a firewall adjuster and quadrant. Forgot my floor mats, but that is ok. The more boxes that show up randomly the more entertaining my home life remains! Jokes aside, I am going to try to get my young sons to help me with these small repairs and see if they show interest. My 3 year has on other projects, but they have been things he cant really do anything but watch. With kick panels and such, he can try to run the screw driver for me. I am really hoping this car is the beginning of a lot of memories made that they some day fondly look back upon.
