10 best v-8 engines period the mighty 5.0

The best thing about the 4.6 is that the blocks have proven to be capable of handling 1000hp....ever see an LS1 hold up to that and not split in half? (actually i'm really asking because i've never heard of it)

Why would I get a 4.6... Because a 4.6, worked over heads and intake, stock camd and a bunch of boost = 600-700 to the tires. Not even close with a 5.0 and those mods... That and the 4.6s sound better than the 5.0s!

i hope you are refering to the 4valve motors as the 2vs take twice as much effort to get there! I have both and would take the pushrod over the OHC motor all day!

he said cobras......nothing to do with machs at all! i could have sworn the 99/01 cobras had cast iron blocks:shrug: must have slipped my mind...i really never really cared for the 99/01 cobras as i was into the 96-98 and of course the 03-04s

I just threw that in there as a little extra info, it doesn't make you any more or less wrong in your original statement. And yes, look it up, 99-01 cobras have an aluminum block.

99/01 cobras had aluminum blocks. I know that they used the Teksid blocks for a while but can't remember if they used them all the way through both years or quit during the 01 production year. The teksid blocks are a pretty desirable block. I thought that I remember reading they were forged in Italy and imported to the US but I could be wrong.

the teskid block is an alumnium block! I believe the the reason why they are so desirable is because they take to wetsleeves better than the iron blocks:shrug:

Of course I am referring to the DOHC motors. I do like the 2Vs just because they are underdogs, but if I were to swap Id toss a 4V in.

with the mods in my sig i made 280 hp 304 TQ to the tires with an injector unplugged. everyone does think the 4.6 sohc is weak but its not. go pick up this months issue of 5.0 magazine they made 401 HP with bascically the same mods i have. i dont know how but they did. i was running about 1/4 tank of 93 and 3 gallons of 110 octane in my car when i dynoed it. we where getting crazy o2 readings but couldnt figure it out. just thought it was the race fuel and a few days later i was under my hood changing the oil and saw the unplugged injector. AND i have NO tune at all. i feel with the injector plugged up and a good tune i will get 330-350 NA hp out of it.

Yeah but honda engines should be #1, HP per liter beats even a Viper V10 so I think the best engine ever is a B18C or the H22A big block monster with 132 cubic inches of raw 8,000rpm powah!
