So. Cal.
I have to buy some drag radials for the track. I can't hook worth a damn on my $100 Khumo's. My best 60ft with my new mods is worse than ever! A 2.408!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The agony!!!!! Anyway, I have an auto with a stock converter with my mods in my signature. What tires should I get? Nittos? BF Goodrich? ???

Oh, and should I get some Weld Draglites with them too? Or what?

Are you planning on running the drag radials all the time or just at the track? I think the general concensus is that Nittos last longer than BFGs on the street, but BFGs hook better at the track. I use the BFGs mounted on a set of Weld Prostars for track time only. I just switch my tires out whenever I go to the track.

Well it would most likely be just for the track but it depends on how long drag radials would last me on the street also? If they'll last 12k miles or so then I might use them on the street. Has anyone tried the Mickey Thompson Radials?

i have felt the MT drag radials & they are STICKY, but i was still kinda wondering how they'd do at the track. well that question i had was answered yesterday when i saw a couple 6 second (1/8th) cars pulling the wheels HARD  But if you are just getting track tires, i'd go ahead & get some slicks & just run them at the track IMO, cause that's what i'm doing shortly :D

So you are a believer in the MT DRs? I need to replace my Nittos and I heard that the MTs are the closest things to straight slicks.

want a set of ET streets?
i was thinking of selling them to save up for weld skinnies & 10" rims for the rear.

they are 26/11.5/17 & are mounted on 2003 cobra ann. rims...
the tires still have a lot of life left because they don't need a long burnout, they still have all tread grooves.they are super sticky my best 60 ft. was 1.69!

2.4...sounds like the driver. if you want some good 60's buy a stall, and 15" drs/slicks. anything else is a waste when you really just need to practivce to learn how to 60' on street tires

9 times out of 10 you get what you pay for when you purchase tires for
your car.I had a great experience with Nitto 555's...I got 16K miles out of
a set of Nitto 555's with my driving style. It's a great tire in my opnion plus
hook's up real good when hot. So,I vote Nitto 555's and practice on your 60ft
because practice makes perfect :D .

Those MT's hook hard, my buddy broke a 9" rear in his 68 cougar launching on them a few weeks ago.

ummmm. your getting a 14.3 with a 2.4 60 ft. Something doesn't sound right. that means with a decent 60 ft (1.8) you be running 13 flat. doubt it. do you have mods not listed in your sig?

Those contemplating Nitto DR's, read inside

I just wanted you guys to know that are thinking of nitto dr's. I have since pulled the nittos off cause they were bald. I want you guys to know I got 6,000 miles out of them from brand new to near baldness. In the summer they were great tires, but when winter/fall came. These tires on dry pavement were like trying to race in the rain. My car was mildy modded 256 rwhp, 4.10, suspension, some weight reduction. But when it was cold out the car wouldn't hook in 1st or 2nd gear. I had about 40 races at the drag strip on them, including a broken passenger side axle, grenaded differential.

If your buying these to save your rear end or to get good hooking tires that will last a little, don't buy nitto dr's. The sidewall is to stiff and you can easily break your rear end.I broke mine on the 12 pass on nittos. Alot of people buy these tires thinking they can get 15k out of them. Not a chance. Your better off buying some cheap rims and a set of et streets.

I thought some of you might want this info before the winter months are officially here and to save $320 on 275/40-17's

No, the mods in my signature are what I have. I ran a 14.322 @ 99.32 mph with a 2.408 60 ft. The best 60 ft I ran was when I was bone stock (except a magnapack catback) and got a 2.269. I have a feeling it's the tire pressure though. I think I drop it too low for a street tire.

Also, Idk about a 13 flat, I was thinking more along the lines of 13.7-13.9? I could be wrong though.
