sorry, very dumb question, but I'm pretty new to working on cars...

Am I supposed to be able to remove the control arm pivot bolts without an impact wrench? I've been going at it for a while but they won't budge. If I need an impact wrench, which auto parts stores loan them out (if any)?

Dumb question back atcha - have you relieved the tension on the springs? Another dumb question - are you holding the nut on the other side of the LCA? I'm going to assume yes to both, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Have you tried using a breaker bar? I used about an 18" piece of pipe over the ratchet handle to give me some extra leverage.

I would spray some penetrating oil on them and let them sit for a while. I've heard good things about PB Blaster, although I've never used it personally.
