I have an older, two barrel, cast iron intake, marine 302, not sure of the year but it has flat tappet hyd. lifters and a provision for a fuel pump. Can I identify the proper flexplate wieght by looking at the harmonic balancer? When I got the engine it didn't have anything bolted to the crank. I intend to bolt it up to a C-4 but I sure would like to get the flexplate right the first time!

if its a factory crank and has a lip on the back of the crank (for the oil 2 piece rear main seal) its probably 28oz. if it doesnt and its a factory crank it probably a 50oz. but there are a lot of aftermarket 28oz crank with no lip for 1 piece rear main blocks. you will have to remove the oil pan in order to determine all of this.

your best bet is to look at the code on one of the front counter weights if its a factory crank if the oil pan is off. i would bet its a 28oz since its an old 2 barrel/cast iron intake motor.

whats the block code?
