Short belt installed 2001 GT

I deleted the A/C, and the 2 idler pullies on the passenger side of the timing chain cover. I took the pulley off the tensioner and installed a ribbed pulley. Then ended up using a 69" belt. Here's a pic.

Wow, that cleans up the engine bay a little. Do you live in a cold climate or do you have another car? Thanks for the info on belt size, it may help someone out in the future.

Well, I live in Ohio, summers get to 90+ regularly, but it's a weekend track car. So much better and cheaper than a A/C delete pulley.

Yes I agree it does clean up the engine

That looks great. How much power will you obtain by making a short belt?

Well, maybe a couple probably not a whole lot but it's a better way to go than a A/C delete I think.

sorry to ressurrect this thread, but curious to see if anyone knew where to get a ribbed pully for the tensioner. i've had my car for 3 years and only used the AC twice, always used heat for defrosting so i think this would be perfect.

please let me know where i can get that pully

AC delete removes like 50 lbs from the front Sounds worth doing if it's a track car.

though he did not do a delete, he bypased the AC and idle pullies by changing the tensioner pully from a smooth to a ribbed then a shorter belt

i'm jujst trying to find the ribbed pully

Well you have used your AC more then you think. When the HVAC controls are on AC, MAX AC, MIX, or DEFROST, the AC compressor is on. They run it to remove the moisture from the air. The only time it isn't on is FLOOR, VENT, and OFF.

heh thats all i really use, though the occasional defroster. in the summer though i dont think i will need the defrost, and like i said never use AC for cooling purposes

but nobody knows where to pickup a ribbed pully for the tensioner?
