When do you need 4V heads

In an NA car go for it whenever, you should be able to benefit with modifications, but if you add in forced induction you dont really need them. sure they are nice and fancy and flow better haha, but i dont think it would be worth the effort and money.
 
In a FI'd car you don't...Didn't Tim at MPH just crack 900rwhp with his KB'd 2V?

Now NA thats a different story. Getting to 400rwhp with a 2V is tough and extremely costly and is much easier with a 4V.
 
id say anything over 800 too like bennyblown2v said but,if you got the $$$ or friends like i do, do like im doin "but" i dont think alot of people might agree ive got a set of n/pi heads at my buddys machine shop getting a full cnc machine port and polish bigger and hardened valve seats for bigger valves and is also machining new valves to fit and is going to bench flow for max and mached flow velocity between each runnerfor better performance. since hes a long time friend hes carging me for materials only and guarantees they flow more than the 3 and 4 valve heads and good for up to 1000hp (which i dont think ill see w/o power adders but imm close to around 450 to 475na hopefully with my bottom end combo hes helping me with) and can still retain a sohc witch means less valvetrain movement and parts for more torque and throttle response

yep thats what im hoping. sorry for the run ons, i hate punctuality, but with forged steel crank, aluminum rods, and .020 over dome top pistons w/ valve reliefs, and the heads with bigger valves and ports (if you will) that you will be able to stick your fist in. but itll have a pi intake upper plenum and the rest of the mods that i already have. yep thats what im hoping
 
at 320 rwhp for any. or whenever you want to easily make this kind of hp.

It is cold and there was snow on the Mustang this morning so it is time to do a little bench racing. At what HP level do you need to change from 2V heads to 4V heads. Both stock and max. fully ported.

Well I noticed you said "need" .

N/A = 380RWHP
Blower= never
Turbo= 1000RWHP
N20= 600RWHP

From what iv seen, that would be my best guess. Im sure your wondering about the "never" part :lol: . The 2Vs wont be far behind the 4Vs when it comes to blower...from what I have seen you can basically make just as much power through a 2V as you can through a 4 valve.

With turbo...best iv seen through a 2V was 1000RWHP(H/C/I..the works)....iv HEARD/read of a stock 4.6 4V 03-04 cobra putting down 1000RWHP with just the addition of twin turbos and a TON of boost (obvious fuel system mods ofcourse) .
2V like teh blowers...4V like teh turbos :D
