I was pretty set on doing a new engine as some of you may know but after adding up the cost to do it right it comes out to a rediculous price. I was going to do a 347, Now im seriously considering an entry level blower. I emailed a guy selling a paxton Novi 1000 with a bunch of extra's included for a good price (its a guy i've talked to before on corral so I know he's legit) I just want to see like 8psi. I am probably going to just run an FMU and keep my 30's. I figure I can easily see 400rwhp. I also thought about buying a PMS, but for the time being i'd probably just pull the spout and lock the timing at a low degree to be safe. If this guy emails me back and all seems well, I think i'm gonna buy it. I thought about making some changes to my combo as is like a new camshaft and a new intake but I feel at this point in the game, a supercharger is more cost effective. I've done the nitrous thing already so I think im going to go with a s/c. I have a 255 high pressure intake, will I need a 255 high pressure inline too? Let me know your thoughts

Most people I know who install n2o usually wind up going sc anyway. Boost is addictive. If you are realistically only looking for 8psi, IMHO, a booster pump is redundant.

Plus, they're noisy & you have to run the relay & wiring down the car, etc.

Vortech, etc, does that to "simplify" the install. You've already done the hard work.

Good luck, you'll love it.

Inline pumps are bad. It's a cheap fix for fuel systems that can't "hack" and ends up heating the fuel. Replace your intank pump or go with an external pump and put a pickup in your tank. Either way, you don't want two pumps out there heating the gas and setting you up for a detonation problem.

blower, nitrous, 347, n/a, blah blah blah :D

i agree with what your saying totally. if it was me, heres wha ti would do.....

the novi, a custom cam, ported or diff intake and a set of 36lb injectors, 80mm pro-m and a PMS. with all that stuff and some labor, your still only gonne be about $2500-3000 depending on cost. With 8-10 psi and the right tune, you will get your goal (and some) of 400hp. YOu know what your doing and what your talking about, just make sure that you get the 36s so that you dont max out your 30s.

I agree but, your intake would be fine your forcing air through so it kinda doesn't matter to an extent, good blower cam and I'd go 42# inj, and I like the inline ATI pumps with a 255lph on a blower car. PMS to tune it all and your set...

I'd personally go with a LARGER blower then the Novi 1000 or SC-Trim since it will cost a lot to upgrade as you want more power down the road.....and we all know how you change your mind :rlaugh:

As someone who has gone the stroker route (331ci) I offer this advice...go with a blower! You'll make the same (probably more) power w/blower for the money. Other than fuel system and cam you really won't need to change what you have now. As time and money permits you can upgrade down the road. 400rwhp NA is not that easy to do with a 347ci but should be very easy to do with blower & your parts.

Forget the PMS and get a TwEECer, then find someone who can tune the car on the dyno.

I personally would forget the Novi and go with a Vortec.

tweecer=laptop.
go PMS. then get an o2 monitor to go with it. then you wont have to see the dyno, you will be able to tune it yourself and see exactly what they see.

no, go novi. i have seen pics of the vortec stuff, its not as sturdy as novi or procharger. (i hope that i got that straight)

also, did anyone notice that Rick agreed with me??? that frickin made my day :D

Haha yeah I have been changing my mind. I want to do something but its hard figuring out what. The cost to do a 347 and make the power I want just out-right turned me off. Kinda like seeing a hot chick and she gets naked and turns out he/she has a dick  Well, maybe not that drastic but you get the idea!

Where can I find more info on those ATI inline pumps? Jd's sells a high pressure 255 pump for $150. Correct me if im wrong but you dont want to run a lesser flowing inline pump than whats in the tank right? That seems like it'll just create a fuel bottle neck.

I would be using the fmu for now since I just put a brand new 80mm pro m on my car and its running/idling great. I would like to do a PMS and if I did, Rick, i'd be asking you about a zillion and one questions :D I am set on running the smaller entry level blower. They can be had for very good prices used and they'll make more than enough power for me. I figure 8lbs of boost now tuned decent will definatly make more than the 347 I was planning. I will keep the rev's under 6k since this is still a 120k stock short. I figure I can see 400-420rwhp easily with a super safe tune. Im just waiting for this dude to e-mail me back if he's still selling it and answer my questions. I think for what I would be getting this is a killer price! I'm hoping for the best. Its a dude i've talked to before on corral, so I know he's legit and not a scammer. I'll keep you guys informed.

Fwiw, I think you still need a laptop for a PMS if you wanna data log.

The guys who's kit I was interested in was sold. I e-mailed a dealer on corral who's sells paxtons and vortecs. He gave me a quote of $1689 for the novi 1000 and $2750 for the novi 2000. I emailed him back for a quote on a vortec S trim. I might just be better off buying a brand new kit. I believe the S trims are cheaper than the novi 2000's.

Do they come with fmu's and the disks to change the fuel/boost ratio's? How do you know what ratio to run? I run 30lb injectors with the mods in my sig and im looking for 8lbs. Down the road I will probably do 55lb injectors and matching maf and a power pipe but for now just a basic blower kit with an fmu. I wanna see around 425 SAFE tuned hp.

Just got a reply from the guy, $2250 for the S trim kit. Vortec also has a $100 rebate going on, so basically its $2150 for it. I am seriously considering that.

I been thinking and you guys are probably right about buying the bigger blower and it being more efficient.

So, tell me about Vortec S trims? Any issues with the install? What about some basic tune idea's? I'll be using 30's with an FMU for now. Thanks a bunch!

Mike

NOVI has a $100 rebate also, so keep that in mind. Its all what you want from the car. That price on the S trim is good, its even better if that price is for an SQ trim. If you can swing the N2k, then go for it. Basically, buy the best blower you can. Trust me, you will appreciate that advice, no matter what your thoughts are on this matter right now.
