This s u c k s !!!!
I'm doing my T-5z conversion and was really looking forward to shifting gears by the end of the day . Everything was going very smoothly until it came time to bolt up the tranny to the bellhousing . I got the tranny aligned and flush with the bellhousing , I put the bolts in and when I was torquing the first one down it got tight......then loose and just kept spinning!!!
I backed the bolt out and little pieces of aluminum thread were coming out with the bolt . I had my torque wrench set to about 40 ft lbs . chiltons recommends 36-50ft lbs . What the hell happened?
The bellhousing is a brand new aluminum one from summit . Should I have torqued it less because it is aluminum? or are all T-5 bells aluminum . There is also a possibility I used the worng bolts . I though I matched them up perfectly but may have gotten bolts a hair too small .
Can anyone tell me the exact size of the tranny to bellhousing bolts!?
I dont want this to happen again!!!
