2V PRICES IN 5 YEARS?????

If there are guys asking 6K for 20-25 year old Fox bodies and getting it, I'm sure a clean Modular SN95 will fetch similar figures when numbers for a clean examples begin to dwindle like the Fox's have.

There will be a point where depreciation will taper off on our cars. What that point is is up to economic factors and gas prices. If gas returns to $4 a gallon, that will kill resale for our cars. The fox bodies are unique in that they are lightweight and parts for them are plentiful.

Yeah but only if they fall into one or more of the following categories:
-mach/cobra/bullitt/anniversary edition
-bone stock
-ridiculously low mileage

Run of the mill GTs with mods or average mileage will never be worth jack ****.

A lot of the nice LX fox's around this area are now going for close to 15k. I don't think the sn95 will be worth as much as the fox's are unless you have a cobra or mach 1.

What people are asking for them and what they're actually selling for differ greatly. ;)

From personal experience, most Fox body and import owners I've seen think their sitting on a gold mine when it comes to their cars.

I've seen ragged out, 300,000km GT advertised at 10K with noting more than a CAI and cat back exhaust.

The worst part about it all, is that there are actually people out there who will pay what they're asking. Some people have no sense I tell ya. :nonono: No stock or near stock LX/GT is worth more than $4,500....I don't care how pristine the owner insists it is!!!

It will be interesting to see how low they go with the new 5.0 coming out. Given the performance of the new 5.0 all of the 4.6's could take some pretty serious hits. The fox bodies seem to hold their value due to being light weight and they appeal to chevy owners looking for a lightweight platform to drop a big engine into. Gone are the days of finding a 69 Nova that some old lady was driving for $2k.

Another comparison might be the LT1 and late 80's/early 90's SBC 305/350's that pale in comparison to the LS1 era. Even in great shape they aren't really worth anything.

After a few kids start smashing up the new 5.0's insurance rates will climb on them and they will coddle back to the 3V S-197's and 2V 4.6's.

The Fox market is all over the place. It seems that what I picked my Fox up for 10 years ago, people are asking the same if not more for the same car today.

I rarely see a 80's or early 90's camaro/firebird in excellent condition. most of them look like **** and are beat to hell. I have saw a few that were really clean and they were asking anywhere from $5-8k.

as far as our cars in 5 years there will probably not be too many with below 80k, when i was looking a few months back almost all of them forsale had over 100k miles. I got mine with 55k and its really just a weekend toy. I would think if its still under 70k miles you could probably get $6k out of it, as long as its still in great condition. Just depends how many stangs are still out there in the same condition, the more there are the less you will be able to get.

one thing about us stang owners especially the 4.6s we never would get what we have in them hell most of us have more in the car then what they are worth ... i plan on keeping mine and giving it to my son he is 4 and just likes me to start it so he can listen to it

Intersting thread,

I've wondered this myself as I pour cash into my 00 2v. With the newer ones out and only getting faster, it'll be hard to even regain some that was put in.

Spend 20-25k including the car and you're still fighting to beat a stock new mustang.

Well, time gets along, parts for our cars get better and stronger, I don't see Ford outdoing the 2011 GT for another decade, by then what superchargers are gonna get more effeciant, the design has no choice but to be more effeciant the twin screw and centri are simple desighns. Besides, you love the feeling when your sleeper Fox, sn-95, aero, outruns, in there opinion, a far superior design. Only certain people want a car that would really break the bank to highly mod. (I will stick to my Sn-95, won't be hard to break 700 HP anyway)

In their opinion?!? Try in every opinion. Outrunning a newer, faster, better car by throwing parts and power adders at an existing one only proves that you can make an older, modified Mustang outrun a stock newer Mustang in a straight line. It doesn't change the fact that the newer car is still superior as a whole.

Again, yes, you can throw parts and time at an older car to make it match and even surpass all of the performance characteristics of the newer....but at that point you've spent far, far more than the car is worth and in the end you're still saddled with an older example that you've spent more on, but is still worth less money.

Maybe it's the rust from up North but down here you can find decent shape cars like that for cheap. There are plenty of junkers but you can find clean ones for well under those prices.
