Anyone know how much a stock 5.0 flywheel weighs, or do you have one laying around that you could throw on a scale? I'm trying to compare stock vs. steel vs. aluminum. I thought billet steel was lighter then cast iron, but I'm not so sure now. If the steel flywheel is gonna be heavier then what I have now, then I'm going aluminum for sure... I think steel is around 25lb, iron is 21lb or so, and alum is 13?

ok thanks Mike, what does a normal 302/306 take a 28oz. or a 50oz.? What would happen if you put a 50oz. flywheel on an engine that takes a 32oz. or vice versa? I got my billet steel flywheel off a 308? (.040 over) could this possibly be wrong for my 306? Neither of them are a stroker.

Normal 302 / 5.0 roller moter uses a 50oz flywheel. If you use a 28oz on a 50oz motor your engine will be out of balance and you'll have a bad vibration, which can damage the bottom end. 302/ 306/ 308 should all be 50oz
