He would never do this.

I did forget about that though. I'll add it to the rules anyway. All runs must be made in 4th gear. Weather conditions, altitude and the like must be documented and verified. This should be very noticeable though.

I had the exact same setup in my 88 GT. Same cid, same heads, same cam, same intake, mass air, LT's, etc... The only difference was the compression. Mine was 9.5:1 . It made just under 300 at the wheels.
Here are some pictures of it.

The rule of thumb is simple. This a guide and not exact of course.

Cubic inches multiplied by:

.95- for mild
.98- for medium
1- solid stout combo.
1.1- very well put together combo.
1.15- nuts

Power adder's:
1.5 (10 lbs).

Again many things vary.

My guess would be 306 X 1.1 = 337HP.

my gt40x motor in a 67 fastback made 322rwhp 300 torq A peak hp 5800 rpm This was on a MUSTANG DYNO at PSI Motorsports in Slatington Pa. air temp 92 humidity very high. Air cleaner removed. Also with bad vibration in driveshaft at 70-100 mph
Motor specs
gt40x 345hp "B" cam
1.7 crane rockers
dynomax headers
rpm airgap intake ported slightly
650 DP holley choke plate removed
msd pro billet distributor
2 1/2 exhaust X pipe to flowmaster 40s thru 2 1/4 tailpipes

He will probably will come close to 370-375on a cool day with some good computer tuninig of the fuel system and advance curve.
If he doesn't make it do you get his motor?
Intake and exhaust are his limitations
NO WAY will he get the 5k! :p

Check my garage for mods, and sig for power. Also check Anderson Ford Motorsports web page, they have the most powerfull N/A 306s I have EVER seen, none with even close to 450 to the ground. Just be shure he does not mess with the dyno inputs. Give him 5 to 1 odds, you will still get a grand :D

FiveOfastback - What accessories were you running? This is on a chassis dyno right? Not engine dyno right?

He said it was on a Mustang dyno. Doesn't sound too crazy at all really. The engine was carbed, and if it's tuned well 320 at the wheels isn't too far out there at all from a 302.

Mind you, I can't see this other guy even breaking 330 whp. Theres nothing wild at all about that combo. Your buddy is crazy. If he breaks 400 bhp I will be surprised! :nice:

Seriously, my suggestion is to let him name your prize and do it soon. If he is so sure of himself, he will set the prize high as he is so confident. Then he will have to stick to it as it was his promise...Always play on a mans issue with too much pride.

Hmmmm..... This is worth watching...

450 RWHP?

Giving a factor of .17 for the dyno...

542 FWHP give or take a few...

542 FWHP / 306 = 1.771 HP per cube!!!

The average NMRA Pure Street 311 is making 425 RWHP on VP C10..

425 RWHP ~ 512 FWHP

512 / 311 = 1.646 HP per cube

Well.... He sure is going to look foolish when it goes all the way to 325 RWHP....

I'm with Ed on this one. He may know a thing or 2 about building motors. ;)
